Within the project “Socio-economic for olive growers in southern Lebanon”, on April 29, 2015, ICU has contributed to the creation of a center for the production of olive oil in the village of Tayrfelsay, in southern Lebanon.
The center is equipped with the most suitable equipment to maintain the olive oil produced in tanks.
The presence of a collection centre of olive oil in this village allows to exploit the potential of this sector with the aim to meet international standards and thereby obtain certified oil. This centre allows primarily to maintain a high quality oil for a longer period allowing to sell it when prices are cheaper and, de facto, more competitive on the market. All this will also improve socio-economic conditions of families through the development of the olive oil sector by focusing on quality and marketing, as expected by the project. The project will also allows to organize the training for more than 1,000 farmers from 42 different cooperatives.
