The 19 November 2015 was held in Jordan, at NCARE headquarters, National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension, the third international conference “The ACCBAT strategic project: objectives leading to results.”
More than 100 participants, journalists and Jordanian farmers involved in the project in Jordan attended the conference in which project activities carried out by ICU – Institute for University Cooperation Onlus, coordinator of the project and its partners: NCARE, the Ministry Agriculture Lebanon, the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture and the Authority of the Po River Basin were presented.
It was also presented a Water Quality Index developed within the project and valid for all the Mediterranean countries involved in it a field visit has been realized in Ramtha in the afternoon. Here, all project partners and public could visit the Ramtha Waste Water Treatment plant and the experimental plots implemented in NCARE premises in Ramtha in the framework of the ACCBAT project.
ACCBAT (Adapting to climate change by improving the management of water demand in irrigated agriculture with the introduction of new technologies and best agricultural practices) is a 3-year project with a total budget of EUR 4,998,952.50 which promotes environmental sustainability through increased water efficiency, reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation in Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia. The project is co-financed by the European Union (90%) under the ENPI CBC MED of which Sardinia Region is the Managing Authority.
