ICU is recruiting a Programmes Coordinator/Senior Desk Officer to join its Rome office.
Duration 12 months (with the possibility of renewal or permanent contract).

Job Description and Responsibilities The Programmes Coordinator/Senior Desk Officer is a central figure in the ICU Rome office structure. Directly supervises and coordinates the teams in the Lebanon and Syria missions, and coordinates the MENA area programs with the primary objective of starting new partnerships, developing project ideas, obtaining financial resources to implement them by meeting new funders and consolidating relationships with current donors.
He/she also supervises the progress of ongoing projects in the various countries of reference by coordinating expatriate staff and Country Reps. In this role, autonomy and delegation go hand in hand with responsibility and focus on achieving objectives.
The tasks are both directly connected to the project activity (e.g. researching tenders, writing projects, checking reports, authorizing bank transfers, meetings with donors, hiring expatriate and local staff, etc.) and transversal (e.g. communication, training, institutional relations), reporting to the ICU Management. The position includes missions to develop partnerships and monitor ongoing initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- At least 5 years of work experience in the cooperation sector in a similar role;
- Excellent mastery of Italian, English and French;
- Experience in writing and managing development cooperation projects;
- High capacity for planning, analysis and definition and management of priorities and deadlines;
- Dynamism and ability to work proactively and autonomously;
- Excellent knowledge of the Office package;
- Proven ability to work with a large number of stakeholders, including local, national and international institutions and other civil society organizations;
- Fundamental is the interest in taking on a role with a multi-year horizon in an organization, such as the ICU, extremely lean, agile, unstructured, in which autonomy and proactivity are fundamental. The role requires full-time presence in the Rome office (possibility of planning a period abroad).
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of the procedures of the main international donors (e.g. AICS, EU, USAID…)
- Ability to monitor and provide narrative and financial reporting;
- Personal network of international donors, foundations, funds, companies;
- Periods of study and/or work abroad;
- Experience in administrative and logistics management carried out first-hand;
- Aptitude for quantitative analysis;
- Previous knowledge of the MENA area and in particular Lebanon and Syria.
