Today, February 24, from 10 am to 1 pm, in Bujumbura at the Vocational Training Center of Kigobe hosts the ceremony of delivery of the training course certificates to 35 young students, of which 13 women, from the province of Bujumbura who have successfully passed the vocational training course in solar energy, installation and maintenance of PV systems in Burundi.
Signed by the Directorate-General for Vocational Education and Crafts of the Ministry of Education of Burundi, the certificates recognize the technical skills acquired after the course of theoretical and practical training, the assessment test and the following month of internship of a first group of 111 young people from the rural provinces of Burundi (e.g. Bujumbura rural, Ruyigi, Rutana…) who have undertaken the path of professional training in the solar energy sector proposed by GLICE.
The certification of specific vocational training on PV systems and the training of young technicians is an integral part of the ICU programme of intervention in the Country, particularly through the project entitled “Access to renewable energy in the off-grid areas of Burundi as a driving force for socio-economic development” (AID 011876) funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation- AICS.
In front of the media, the certificates were delivered in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Youth, as well as the Director of GLICE and the ICU Legal Representative and the ICU Project manager in the country.
