ICU is thrilled to announce the completion of the first phase of rehabilitation work at the pediatric department of Martyr Attiah Al-Kasih Hospital in Kufrah, marking a vital step toward improving healthcare services for children in southern Libya.
This achievement is part of the AICS project: AL SAHA – Improving health services and psychosocial support for children in Libya, an initiative dedicated to enhancing the quality of pediatric care and ensuring accessible healthcare services for the most vulnerable.
The rehabilitation work included:
• Installation of special-needs toilet facilities with handrails and slip-resistant flooring to improve accessibility.
• Roof insulation and double-glazed windows to enhance energy efficiency and patient comfort.
• Replacement of medical-grade doors, installation of medical vinyl flooring, and wall coverings to ensure hygiene and sterility.
• Structural and electrical repairs, including repainting of walls, replacement of handrails, and installation of energy-efficient lighting.
• Roof and drainage system improvements to prevent water ingress and ensure safety during heavy rains.
Through this initiative, we are not only addressing immediate healthcare challenges but also laying the foundation for sustainable and inclusive healthcare solutions for the children and families in Kufrah.
A heartfelt thank you to all the partners, local authorities, hospital staff, and community members who made this possible. Your collaboration and commitment are what drive meaningful change.
We are now preparing for the second batch of work, which will include specialized medical training and the delivery of medical equipment and medicines, ensuring that the hospital is fully equipped to provide high-quality care.
Let’s continue working together to ensure that every child in Libya has access to the healthcare they deserve.
