The project is co-funded by the European Union, Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco and Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Italia e Mediterraneo under the SUDEP programme: Sustainable Urban Demonstration Projects (SUDEP) – South to enable local authorities in the ENPI South Mediterranean Partner Countries to implement local action plans targeting sustainable urban development and it is implemented in Tunisia in collaboration with the Municipality of Nabeul, ONAS and ANME.The overall objective is to contribute to the implementation of the initiatives promoted in the urban sustainable development field by local authorities.
The specific objective is to provide the municipality of Nabeul with the possibility to realize, replicate autonomously and demonstrate to the neighboring municipalities, photovoltaic solutions that can be undertaken in order to ensure the electricity supply needed for the public water, public buildings and urban lighting use.
In a joint consultation between ICU, the Municipality of Nabeul and the local population it emerged that the city of Nabeul needs to improve the quality of the public services provided to the local population. Thanks to the activation of the 2 solar power plants the city will benefit from a constant furniture of energy for public services (street lighting, water depuration, public building energy production).
The energy provided will allow a reduction of the costs for the local community, all the population will dispose of clean water, the pollution deriving from the energy production will be significantly reduced, the personnel that will take care of the new plants will increase technical and management skills. This action will raise the awareness of the population about environment and renewable energies and in addition the city will benefit from a long term energetic plan that will also be an example for other communities.

Le projet est financé par l’Union européenne dans le cadre du programme SUDEP, un programme de soutien aux villes du voisinage méridional dans la mise en oeuvre de
projets de démonstration de développement urbain en matière d’énergie durable. En Tunisie, le projet “Commune de Nabeul : solutions renouvelables pour les services publics de base” vise à contribuer à la multiplication des initiatives en matière de
développement urbain durable promues par les autorités locales tunisiennes. Le projet est réaòisé en Tunisie en collaboration avec la Municipalité de Nabeul, l’ONAS et l’ANME.
OBJECTIF SPECIFIQUE du projet est de mettre la ville de Nabeul en mesure de réaliser, répliquer de manière autonome et démontrer aux autres villes du voisinage des solutions photovoltaïques pour l’alimentation en électricité de l’assainissement des eaux publiques usées, des bâtiments publics et de l’éclairage urbain.
RESULTATS ATTENDUS
- Environ 347MWh/an produits par photovoltaïque à disposition des services publics de base : bâtiment municipal de la Commune autonome à 50%, environ 100 points lumineux alimentés par PV, 25% d’énergie en plus pour la Station d’Epuration
des eaux usées (STEP). - Personnel en mesure de gérer le fonctionnement, la maintenance et le remplacement des installations.
- Population locale, touristes et étudiants universitaires de la ville conscientisés sur l’importance d’utiliser des sources d’énergie alternatives au niveau de la Commune.
- Démonstration des avantages des solutions adoptées et des modalités de mise en oeuvre et de gestion à d’autres Communes.
- Proposition d’un plan d’action en énergie durable de la Commune à l’échelle des dix
prochaines années.
Le projet prévoit l’installation et la connexion de deux centrales solaires, PV1 et PV2 qui fourniront environ :
- 58MWh/an pour le bâtiment municipal
- 131MWh/an pour alimenter plus de 100 points lumineux
- 158MWh/an en plus pour la STEP.
