The project CROLET – Creation of job opportunities through territorial economy – Supporting local development in the governorates of Sidi Bouzid and Kebili, is part of the Italian Ministry of Interior’s “MININT_RELINT 2019” programme, which encompasses cooperation and assistance projects towards third countries.
The project is implemented in partnership with WW-GVC (Project lead), in the two governorates of Sidi Bouzid and Kebili, situated in the Central and the Southern regions of Tunisia respectively and which are two of the most economically disadvantaged areas of the country.
Within the wider scope of the CROLET project, aiming to strengthen local development in the two governorates, ICU’s activities will focus on the creation of job opportunities, the development of new businesses and the consolidation of existing ones, targeting four economic chains, two in each governorate. (Dates, fruits and vegetables in Kebili; Olive oil, fruits and vegetables in Sidi Bouzid).
The project activities will include:
– Specialized trainings in both the technical field and business management, targeting 140 beneficiaries interested in agricultural and agro-food sectors;
– A coaching program, providing support in drafting a business plan, accessing credit and marketing, targeting 40 entrepreneurs working in agricultural and agro-food sectors;
– The provision of an endowment fund for 40 Income-Generating Activities (IGA) in agricultural and agro-food sectors.
The three-year project started in November 2020 and it is 90% funded by the Italian Ministry of Interior, for a total budget of 1.666.666.26 €.
