Overview:
1) Contribute to improve health conditions in the southwest suburbs of Kinshasa by expanding Monkole ospital, and in particular raising the role of women within the community through vocational training (courses in nursing). Moreover, the project aims at raising the awareness of the “Millennium Goals” at the university students of Rome Tor Vergata.
Activities:
– extension of the structure of the Monkole Hospital Center to strengthen the health network;
– organization of training courses of medical and nursing staff of the Monkole Hospital Center;
– organization of a workshop at the University of Rome – Tor Vergata on the theme of “Millennium Goals”.
Results:
– clinics expanded and works for the construction of waiting, prenatal and counseling rooms completed;
– surgical block completed;
– new rooms and clinics equipped;
– hospital material provided;
– 2 doctors in gynecology-obstetrics and anesthesia trained;
– 12 training sessions for 313 doctors and nurses of Monkole Hospital realized;
– a seminar at the University of Rome – Tor Vergata on the theme of “Millennium Goals” realized.
