Overview:
1) The project is the prosecution of the “Horticultural Seed Production”programme developed in 2005-2007 whose aim was the set up of an horticulture seed production centre in the department of Mont Ngafula, in the outskirts of Kinshasa. The new phase focuses on the high quality seeds delivery to farmers and technical assistance for cultivation and marketing.
Activities:
– vocational sessions for the farmers;
– increasing of the seed production through the introduction of modern technologies and the rehabilitation of the plots;
– distribution of the seeds produced;
– strengthening of the visibility of the Centre and improving of the management of the local market.
Results:
– 6 vocational sessions realised with the participation of 227 farmers;
– 7 agronomists belonging to 7 horticultural associations trained;
– 5,850 kg of seeds produced;
– 2,306 kg of seeds sold (or distributed for the production of new seeds).
