Overview:
1) To improve the social, economic and environmental living conditions of the local population of the cooperatives of Mansoura, Fakiha and Baalbeck.
Activities:
– irrigation system, centre for the food processing and vegetable cultivation, water cisterns, greenhouses, artesian wells in the cooperatives of El Mansoura, Al Kawthar and Tayabbet;
– 4,000 olive trees and 2,000 almond trees, 1 tractor, 2 internal greenhouse irrigation systems, seeds and new plants, technical equipment for food processing;
– organization of 30 training sessions and 30 field visits for the beneficiary villages on different subjects as irrigation system management, fertilisation, tree disease treatment and plant nursery, food processing, organic production treatment and field practices. These activities include the publication of technical brochures and guides in Arab language that will be distributed to the beneficiary villages.
Results:
– El Mansoura cooperative: 2 water wells for irrigation rebuilt;2 water cisterns constructed; 1,000 almonds and 1,000 olives plants distributed;
– El Kawthar cooperative: center of food processing constructed; 2 green houses constructed; 1 refrigerator room realized;
– El Tayebbet cooperative: 2 green houses constructed; 1 tractor distributed;
– training and technical assistance on cultivation of olive and almond plants, food processing, nutrition, management of cooperatives, accounting provided.
