Support to the schools of Wadi Al Arayesh, Ain Kfarzabad (Zahle) and Sed El Boushrieh (Metn) to ensure a fair access to education by students hit by the Syrian crisis

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the resilience of Lebanese host communities to the influx of Syrian refugees in the educational sector. The specific objective is to increase and improve the educational opportunities of the public primary schools of Wadi Al Arayesh and Ain Kfarzabad, Zahle and Sed el Boushrieh, Mount Lebanon.

The project rehabilitates and re-equips the schools of Ain Kfarzabad and Sed El Boushrieh and covers some of the costs incurred by households of the students for the purchase of school supplies (notebooks, stationery …) and for school transportation at the schools of Ain Kfarzabad and Wadi Al Arayesh.

The beneficiaries are about 950 users who have access to school facilities of higher quality, and about 200 families in vulnerable situation which can count on the reimbursement of costs for transportation and school supplies.

The achieved indicators are as follows:

1. 141 students supported in school transportation fees at the school of Ain Kfarzabad
2. 66 students supported in school transportation fees at the school in Wadi Al Arayesh
3. 304 students supported with school supplies at the schools of Wadi Al Arayesh and Ain Kfarzabad
4. 610 m2 of waterproof roof in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
5. 1100 m2 of waterproof exterior walls in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
6. 3000 m2 repainted interior walls in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
7. 100 benches repaired in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
8. 4 repainted doors and locks repaired and 18 doors replaced in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
9. 6 replaced toilets and 4 repaired washbasins in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
10. 70 m2 of floor space renovated in the bathrooms of the school Ain Kfarzabad
11. 16 faucets replaced in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
12. 1 outer gate repainted in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
13. 1 250 kW boiler purchased and installed in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
14. 47 desks and chairs for kindergartens purchased and distributed in the school of Ain Kfarzabad
15. 120 m2 of windows replaced in the school of Sed el Boushrieh
16. 2 bathrooms in the rehabilitated school of Sed El Boushrieh
